Abstract
Posttraumatic avascular necrosis of femoral head is caused by interruption of blood supply of femoral head. The most causes of posttraumatic Avascular necrosis of femoral head are fractures femoral neck, dislocation of hip joint and fracture of acetabulum. ” Radiographs cannothelp with early diagnosis, when radiographic changes occur it is usually late. Recent methods of investigations including CT scan and MRI. ” Bone grafting and core decompression used to preserve the femoral head in early stages of the disease, osteotomies can be done in later stages with minimal or no collapse of the femoral head. ” Arthroplasty including femoral head replacement, surface replacement arthroplasty and total hip replacement used in late stages of the disease. Arthrodesis of hip joint is indicated for young patients.
