Abstract Inflammatory diseases of the temporal bone are common diseases and has many infectious and non infectious complications. The infectious complications include mastoiditis, petrositis, and intra cranial complications, as well as non infectious complications including ossiculor erOSlOn, labyrinthin erOSIon, tympanic perforation may result in serious morbidity. Therefore careful vigilance is essential to detect complications early in the course of the disease. The availability of HRCT scann1l1g as a diagnostic imaging modality has been. a major advance 111 the management of inflammatory disease of the temporal bone. HRCT has many functions as demonstration of underlying anatomical variation when considering surgical treatment, it can demonstrate the extent of mastoid pneumatization and the position of carotid canal jugular fossa sigmoid sinus and the tegmen covering the middle fossa. Also it can diagnose the extent and nature of pathological changes. |
