Abstract The present work was conducted to study the effect of beta-adrenergic blockers propranolol and atenolol on the plasma insulin and cortisol level in the non-diabetics ana diabetic rats as well as the poss¬ible interaction, between these beta-blockers and the oral hypoglycaemics glibenclamide and glycodiazine with regard to their effect on the plasma glucose, plasma cholesterol, plasma cortisol and serum insulin levels. The data obtained in the study could be summarized as follows : 1- Glibenclamide produced highly significant reduction of the plasma glucose level , significanr reduction of the plasma cholesterol, significant elevation of the plasma cortisol and significant increase of the serum insulin level in the non-diabetic and alloxan diabetic rats in a dose 0.085 mg/kg orally dialy |
