Abstract The present work was an attempt to study the role of ’esterol-rich diet in atherogenesis in experimental rats. study includes two groups of albino rats. n atherosclerotic group: Induction of atherosclerosis was proved histopatho- cally after feeding rats with an atherogenic ration rich cholesterol for four successive months according to ’lios et al. (1956) .Control- group:The rats were sacrified by decapitation after four ’’ths of the beginning of the ration.Fasting serum sam- s were analyzed for: ** Total serum cholesterol. ** Malondialdehyde (MDA) (the reduction product of lipid hydroperoxides) in the serum. ** Serum free fatty acids (FFAs).** Serum triglycerides (TG) ** High Density Lipoprotein-Cholesterol (HDL-choleste- rol) . |
