Abstract

This study aims at shedding light on the role of ifferent imaging modalities in the diagnosis of various rostatic diseases comparing with biopsy as the reference standard when indicated. The study included 53 male patients with different prostatic diseases. Their age ranged from 45 to 96 years. All patients were presented with a picture suggestive of prostatic disease wheather benign or malignant. The most common presentation was weak stream (45 cases), followed by frequency (42 cases). Assessment of the kidney function was carried out in 52 cases, liver function in 4 cases, urine analysis in 10 csaes and urine culture in one case. All referred patients had done an estimation of the total serum PSA level followed by TRUS examination. PeivicMRI and abdominal US were done for all patients. The patients with suspected prostatic carcinoma had a TRUS guided prostatic biopsy (38 cases). 21 cases with suspected malignant infiltration of the SV had TRUS guided SV biopsy. CT scan of the pelvis was carried out for 30 cases, CT of the chest.
