Abstract The present study included 81 eyes of 52 patients. They were divided into three groups: Group I (control group): Included 10 eyes of 5 patients not suffering from ocular or systemic disease. Group II: Included 43 eyes of 27 patients suffering from non proliferative diabetic retinopathy and the macula showed evidence of diabetic maculopathy. Group III: Included 28 eyes of 20 patients suffering from diabetic maculopathy alone. Subdivision of patients was done according to type of maculopathy into focal, diffuse, ischaemic and mixed types.Every patien was subjected toa complete ophthalmological examination, fluorescein angiography and indocyanine green angiography. Patients with CSMO were also subjected to argon laser photocoagulation with fluorescein angiography and indocyanine green angiography after six months. The fluorescein angiographic findings observed in this study in cases with diabetic maculopathy were: 1- Delayed filling of the retinal vessels in some patients. 2- Focal leakage from microaneurysms. 3- Areas of diffuse leakage from microaneurysms or from IRMAs. 4- Avascular zones (areas of capillary dropout), other than normal FAZ (ischaemia). |
