Abstract

Despite Considerable effort, the pathogenesis of DCM remains poorly defmed. Both genetic and environmental factors seem to be involved in the pathogenesis of the disease. In addition to the well- recognized familial forms of the disease, a substantial subset of presumed sporadic (non familial) cases may have a strong genetic component. Activated cellular immune response also was demonstrated by many studies. These include, elevated level of sIL- 2R in patients with DCM and were associated with severe form of the disease and increase level of granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor and TNF- a in 35% of cardiomyopatic patients. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the immunogenetic susceptibility in children with DCM. Each case was subjected to the following: 1- Complete history. 2- Clinical examination. 3- Chest x- ray.4- ECG. 5- Echocardiography. 6- Laboratory investigations including: - * HLA class II typing, in particular HLA- DR and DQ by PCR.
