Abstract Magnetic resonance imaging is capable of defining changes within the nucleus and annulus that are related to degeneration , as well as soft tissue changes. The aim of this study was to assess the role of MRI’ in the evaluation of patients with lumbar spondylosis. Twenty eight patients with lumbar spondylosis were included in the present work , all patients were selected from the outpatient clinic of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Department in El Mansoura University Hospital . A control group comprimised ten healthy individuals were selected matching for age and sex with the group of patients with lumbar spondylosis . All members of this study (patients and controls) were subjected to complete clinical examination, plain radiography and MRlof the lumbar vertebra .
