Abstract

In the present study, we compared the capabilities of the automated Humphrey Field Analyzer, and the manual Goldmann perimeter in the detection and evaluation of early glaucomatous visual field changes in glaucoma suspects, and patients with early primary open-angle glaucoma. The study included three groups: * POAG group (53 eyes). It included eyes with elevated lOP (equal to or greater than 21 mmHg), characteristic VF defects, glaucomatous cupping of the optic discs, and open filtration angles. * OHT group (43 eyes). It included eyes with high lOP (equal to or greater than 21 mmHg), open angles, no glaucomatous optic neuropathy, and no standard VF loss. * Normal group (40 eyes). It included eyes with lOP less than 21 mmHg, normal optic discs, open angles, and no standard VF loss. All subjects included in the study were subjected to ocular and general history taking, and complete eye examination, including both manual and automated VF testing.
