Abstract

This prospective study was designed to evaluate the effect of Propofol, as inducing agents, on the adrenocortical adaptation of the neonates delivered by elective sarean section. Sixty female patients and their neonates were They were classified into three groups, patients each. Patients of the first group were with subarachnoid administration of bupivacaine d were considered as the control group. Anaesthesia of the cond group was induced with Ketamine 1-2 mg. Kg-1. Patients of e third group were induced with Propofol 2 mg. Kg-1. Blood mples were withdrawn from the mother as basal samples at 9 m. and after one hour of delivery. Neonatal blood samples were ithdrawn immediately, one and two hours after delivery. Previous mples were analysed to measure plasma cortisol, blood glucose vel, electrolytes and acid-base status.
