Abstract
In this work, a retrospective review -for cases managed in Cardiothorac ic Surgery Department, Mansoura University Hospital as primary pleural tumours has been carried on. Twelve cases have been reported. Two of them were benign fibrous mesothelioma and ten cases were malignant pleural mesothelioma. As regard cases of benign mesothelioma, the frist case occured in male patient aged 16 years who was presented by productive cough and plain x-ray showed right para cardiac basal lung shadow. Diagnosis and surgical excision through Rt.e}:ploratory thoracotomy were done. Thoracotomy was r-epeated twice and local recurt-ence was detected twice ovet. fifteen years of follow up. Second patient was 30 years old female presented with left sided chest pain and plain }x-ray showed nearly left total opacity with contralateral mediastinal shift. Exploratory thor-acotomy revealed hLge intt-athoracic mass. Pathological r examination after excision proved to be localized fibrous methothelicma. Recurrence was detected after five years where resection of the tumour with adherent two ribs flas done and same pathological result was obtained.
