Abstract
Schistosomiasis is an important life threatening disease endemic in large areas of the world especially, The need for suitable assay for serodiagnosis, seroepidemiology and field studies of schistosomiasis as non of the existing tests are wholy satisfactory. The aim of this work is to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the Fast-Dot-ELISA (FDE) using monoclonal antibodies in detection of circulating schistosomal antigen urine and serum and assessment of its sensitivityes in detection of circulating antigens in different stages of schistosomiasis. The study was performed on 436 individuals classified according to their age into 2 sections: Section (I): ~’.~~~~’.~~~~ Including 240 adults in which the reference test was microscopic detection of ova and accordingly 190 were and the remaining 50 were non-schistosomal E).
