Abstract

Febrile seizures are the most common seizure disorder in early childhood. Genetic factors certainly do playa role in the susceptibility to this disorder although different modes of inheritance has been suggested. Immunological abnormalities had been described in cases with febrile convulsions. These abnormalities may playa role in the pathogenesis of this disorder through increasing the susceptibility of these children to infection and/or altering their response to it. We . investigated forty two children with febrile convulsions on family basis. These cases were subjected to the following investigations :- 1- HLA-A B, DR typing. 2- Estimation of serum immunoglobulin level of 19A IgG and IgM. 3- Assay of percentage of T cell (total, helper and suppressor). 4- Estimation of serum IL2 level. 5- Family pedigree construction
