Abstract Clinical studY of 120 eyes with thyroid dysfunction, of them 100 eyes of patients with hyperthYrodism and 20 eyes of patients with hypofunction of the thYroid gland. We concluded that 60% of hyperthYroid patient ahOW8S ocular manifestation, which nearly similar to that already published in the literature. While ocular manifestation occurs in 40% of hypothyroid patient. The commonest sign of ocular manifestation of hyper¬thyrodism are’ poor con.argance 90%; extra-ocular muscle palsies 84% •. upper liLretraction 50%, exophthaimOS 50%• While the rarest ocular manifestation are increased pigmen- tation, tremors of the closed lids, jerkY pupillarY consen- sual light conteraction (7%). T3 estimation in the patient)serwn with hyperthyrodiSm is more important than T4 estimation. As 77% of hyperthY¬roid patient with ocular-ma~ifestation showes increase in T3 above normal level. |
