Abstract The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of various techniques and sutures of subscleral trabeculectomy on the corneal curvature with attention to postoperative intraocular pressure, ocular complications and visual acuity changes. The study included 45 patients with 60 eyes, 23 males and 22 females. 8 eyes had juvenile glaucoma and 52 eyes had adult glaucoma, of which 18 eyes had open-angle glaucoma and 34 eyes had angle closure glaucoma. The age ranged ~rom 48-70 years in adult glaucoma and ~rom 16-24 years in juvenile glaucoma. The affected eyes w~re classfied into 4 groups (15 eyes in each group); group I to which a rectangular trapdoor was done and sutured with 2 virgin silk sutures at the angles, group II to which a rectangular trapdoor was done and sutured with 4 virgin silk sutures (2 at the angles and 2 at the sides), group III to which a triangUlar trapdoor was done and sutured with one apical virgin silk suture and group IV to which a triangUlar trapdoor was done and sutured with 3 virgin silk sutures (1 at the aex and 2 at the sides). |
