Abstract Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), serum trigly¬ceride level (TG), serum and urinary creatinine, creat¬inine clearance, serum and urinary fibrinogen degrada¬tion products (FDP;) and FDP clearance were done to fifteen non-diabetic control subjects and twenty two maturity-onset diabetic (MOD) patients.of the diabetic patients included have associated cardiac failure, pUlmonary disease and primary hepatic disease • Diabetic patients having other endocrinal diseases were excluded from the present work. Complete urine analysis was done to all diabetics under investigation. Those with pyuria were excluded 0 All drugs known to influence carbohydrate and lipid metabolism are withdrawn before the investigation.Urinary FDP is absent in all control subjects as well as in allno~proteinuric diabetic patients investi¬gated • However urinary FDP appeared in only 5 patients out of 12 proteinuric diabetic patients. Thus it is concluded that the appearance of FDP in urine is not functionally dependent otheprocess of proteinuria • Also, the present work clarify that there is no significant difference in the creatinine clearance between diabetic patients having FDP in urine and those without FDP. |
