Abstract Several reports about the immunology of atopic derma¬ titis, a disease of unknown etiology, have been published nevertheless, controlversy is obvious and the subject is still open for discussion • So in a trial to understand the underlying immunologic etiology, this research was carried out on 20 patients with atopic dermatitis and 7 healthy controls; matched for the same age and sex . The patients were selected to be iminunologically competent on clinical and laboratory investigations, from those attending Mans our a University Hospitals outpatient clinic during the period from Augest to November, 1982) • The immunologic study was done in the form of : Assessment of cell-mediated immunity through • determination of percentage of E-rosette and blast transformation Assessment of humeral immunity by quantitative determin¬ation of certain immunoglobulins in the serum (E,G,Mf and A ) . The age of the patients ranged from 10 months - 60 years. 50% were under 15 years and 50 % were above 15 years. |
