Abstract
The aim of the present work is to study the immunolo¬gical changes of COPD and bilharziasis and their reflections on the lung by using bronchoalveolar lavage and immune profile of the blood. The material of the present study comprised fourty four cases which were categorized into: a) Control group: included six healthy volunteers. b) COPD with bronchial asthmatic dominance group: included ten cases. c) Bilharzial group: included ten cases with active bilhar¬ZlaS1S. d) COPD with bilharziasis group: included eighteen cases. All cases had been subjected to: - Through history taking and clinical examination. Investigations included urine and stool analysis, sigmoi¬doscopy and rectal mucosal snip examination, complete blood picture, plain X-ray chest, serum immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgE), pulmonary function spirogram and bronchoalveo¬lar lavage where we studied lavage immunoglobulins,lavage cellular pattern and T-Iymphocytes with their •sub-pulations. Also we studied the specific IgE to some common allergens (Pollens, dust, mite and milk) in the sera of the asthmatic
