Abstract This study was conducted on 30 adult female patients subjected to laparoscopic gynaecological procedure to evaluate the effect of use of isoflurane versus halothane as a maintenance anaesthetic on haemodynamics parameters and blood gasometric study. These patients were randomly allocated into 2 groups, 15 patients each, I (Halothane) and II (Isoflurane) Both group subjected for thorough clinical examination and premedicated by intravenous atropine sulphate 10Jlg/kg, midazolame 40Jlg/kg and fentanyl 1 Jlg/kg. Central venous catheter and arterial cannula were done under complete aseptic conditions. Anaesthesia was induced with thiopentone sodium 5mg/kg, suxamethonium Img/kg , maintenance with N20: 02 (60%:40%), vecuronium was given to maintain muscle relaxation. Inhalational anaesthetic was given in 0.5 MAC before insuffiation then 1 MAC after insuffiation. Ventilation of the patient was controlled with manipulation of minute volume to keep PETC02 in normal range mainly through respiratory rate. Infused fluid was a mixture of glucose 5% and ringer’s solution in a ratio of 1:2 to compensate for fasting period & maintenance. |
