Abstract The plasma catecholamines were estimated bythe trihydroxyindole method. The present method was proved to be both sensitive and reproducible. The lowest concentration which had been estimated by this method Was O~25 mcg/l with a mean percentage recovery 83.1. In the experimental study 72 mongrel dogs of either sex were used. They were classified to i2- groups each consisted of 6 dogs. I. Barbiturate anaesthesia: a- The first group of animals were anaesthetized by pento- barbitone (30 mg/kg, 1.p.). b- The second group, anaesthesia was induced by thio-pentone sodium (5-?-5 mg/kg, i.v.) and maintained by thiopentone infusion. II. Diethyl ether anaestesia: Four groups of animals were used. After induction of anaesthesia endotraoheal intubation was performed by direct laryngoscopy. Anaesthesiawas maintained by diethyl ether and after surgical interference the animals were left to recover. |
