Abstract This study has been planned to evaluate the response of diabetic p,atients to d-tubocurarine neuromusclu, liar blockade. Forty patients were included in this work, 25 diabetic and 15 nondiabetic, subjected to different urologic operations Detailed history was taken and thorough cl 1 ni cal examination was performed for a I 1patients. Common manifestations i n diabetes mel I itus were stressed upon ordered were serum creatinine, bilirubin, SGPT, potassium, sodium, calcium blood glucose level and arterial blood gasometry. An electrocardiogram was recorded for every patient. Patients were premedicated with diazepam butorphanol andatropine Thiopentonewas used for induction of anaesthesia and followed by suxamethonium for endotrachea ntubation Nitrous oxide and oxygen Were used for maintenance of anaesthesia. Muscle produced with d-tubocurar ne and its effect ,was reversed u s 1 n g neostigmine and atropine . Myotest, was the peripheral nerve stimualtor used for stimulation of the u1nar nerve just proximal to the wrist J.oint. Mechanical response of the adductor Policis brevis was sensed by force-displacement transducerp TDIOO, a,nd p~rocq, ssedby myograph 2000 an impulse analyser. |
