Abstract The first includes a brief research on the literature interested in the catalytic decomposition of H2O2 in presence of some transition metal complexes as well as the catalytic activity of some cuprates. The mechanism of such decomposition was also illustrated. The second chapter which describes the experimental part, including list of the reagents, stock solutions and the instrumental techniques used. The equipments are the gasometrical apparatus, pHmeter, spectral instruments (U.V, MS and I.R), magnetic susceptibility balance, conductivity bridge and thermal analyzer. Also, procedures for preparation of Cu(II) thiosemicarbazide complexes used in this work are involved. The relations for calculating the different parameters are mentioned as well as the equations used in calculating the concentration of the decomposed H2O2. The third chapter, which includes the results and discussion is divided into two main sections: The first section comprises the elucidation of the formation of complexes in solution and in the solid state The second section is the investigation of the heterogeneous catalytic activity of Cu(II) thiosemicarbazide complexes that were studied in the first section The mechanisms for the decomposition reaction over superconductor sample as well as on the complex and its mixture with the sample are proposed.. |
