Abstract The purpose from this thesis is to study the separation in the flow through peristaltic motion in an uniform channels and tubes for Newtonian and nonNewtonian fluids in both cartesian and cylindrical coordinate systems. We determine the flow separation points, velocity field, pressure rise and friction force at the flow separation points in the dimensionless form. Also, it has been studied two interesting physiological phenomena associated with peristaltic flows which are fluid trapping and material reflux at the wall of the ureter or small intestine. We study the peristaltic motion for Newtonian fluids in uniform tube and nonNewtonian fluids (Carreau Fluid <U+2013> Powerlaw fluid) in uniform tube and channel. Also, the results show that the trapping region decreases with increasing volume flow rate. Moreover, the trapping and reflux phenomena occur in contraction region.
