Abstract

During the course of this study 51 different bacteria that degree cellulose were isolated. These isolates were obtained from soil samples of Mansoura and Aga. animal excreta especially from rumen aimal and soil and water from Lake of Manzola. Cow excreta (80%W.C.) contained the highest over all cellulolytic bacterial count while soil of Mansoura (20%W.C.) scored the lowest overall bacterial count, irrespective of incubation period. The highest number of cellulolytic bacteria was obtained from all samples if they been kept at 30°C for two weeks and the lowest number was observed if the incubation period was extended to three weeks.
