Abstract In this study, the metabolic effects of ureide-N compounds mainly allantoin (0-5 mM) and citrulline (0-5mM) in french bean (Phaseolus vulgaris var - Contender) was studied in micropropagated tissues (invitro) and in the intact seedlings (in vivo). All these experiments were designed to investigate the possible effects of application of either allantoin or citrulline, on the growth, carbohydrates, pigments, nitrogen, protein, nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and certain enzyme activities (nitrate reducaste, urease, asparaginase and glutamine synthetase) in intact french bean seedlings and of in vitro cultured tissues of french bean throughout the entire periods of the experiment. |
