Abstract The present study is mainly dealing with the comparison between the efficacy of fungicides (as chemical control agents) and mycorrhiza (as biological control agents) to control Phytophthora spp. This study can be summarized in the following points : I-Laboratory studies : The effect of two systemic fungicides (benomyl and diathin) on the growth and metabolic activities of Phytophthora capsici and phytophthora infestans showed a remarkable inhibition in the growth and sporulation rate of both pathogens. The degree of inhibition depended on the concentration of fungicides. Generally, P. infestans was highly sensitive to diathin than benomyl when the same concentration was used. |
