Abstract The present work involvesthe study of the biological, physiological and antimicrobial activities of some bacteria belonging to the order Actinomycetales. Two hundred actinomycete cultures were tested for their antagonistic potentialities using a wide range of test organisms including bacteria, yeast, fungi and algae. Twenty isolates were found to exhibit strong activities versus bacteria, fungi and algal test organisms. They were therefore, selected for studying their capability to produce antibiotics on liquid-shaken culture. The detailed comparative study of the cultural properties of eight of the selected isolates (namely No. MN11, MN21, MN27, MN30, MN32, MN37 and MN52). |
