Abstract Uptake and transport of the alkali cations K and Na have been studied in the low - salt plants of Sinapis alba at 25°c. Seedlings were transplanted onto culture media of different ionic contents and concentrations in order to investigate the pattern of uptake and transport of K and Na and factors affecting K/Na selectivity. Mustard seedlings showed preferential absorption and transport for K rather than for Na from solutions containing equal concentrations of both cations. |
