Abstract Experiments were conduct in which radish and turnip root slices were incubated for 48 hours at 25°c in nitrate, nitrite or hydroxylamine with the aim of finding the possible fates of their assimilation. The effect of adenosine triphosphate and reduced pyridine nucleotide on the rate of nitrate assimilation was also tested. Both tissue slices absorbed considerable amounts of the various nitrogen sources from their respective selutions. |
