Abstract
Studies on B-Ketoanilide Derivatives and related heterocyclic compounds : The reaction of equimolecular amounts of acetoacet anilide and 2-arylidene-3, 4-dihydro-l(2H) naphthalenone (I) in postassium methoxide gave 1,2,3,9,10,10a-hexahydro-3-oxo-1-phenyl-2-phenanthrene carboxanilide (II). The reaction of compound (II) with carbonyl reagents was studied as follows: Action of Hydrazines on (II) : Compounds (II) reacted with hydrazines in ethanol to give 1,2,3,9,10,10a-hexahydro-3-oxo-1-phenyl-2-phenanthre-necarboxanilide 3-(arylhydrazone) (III).
