Abstract This thesis abstract introduces a novel framework for improving Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems through the integration of blockchain technology. Traditional EHRs are plagued by issues such as security vulnerabilities, misuse of data, and inadequate audit trails. The proposed system utilizes blockchain’s encrypted and interconnected block system to enhance data security, accessibility, and privacy, effectively overcoming these challenges. Developed on the Ethereum network using Ganache, and employing tools such as Solidity and web3.js, the framework allows for decentralized operations via smart contracts. These contracts enable secure, private transactions and ensure that any modifications are verifiably and consistently applied across the network. The inclusion of a MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet further secures and simplifies access to patient records for both healthcare providers and patients, promoting efficiency and transparency. The findings demonstrate that blockchain technology not only fortifies data integrity and control but also improves operational efficiency in healthcare settings, suggesting a transformative potential for EHR management. |
