Abstract

The current study was conducted to assess the multi-dimensional impact of COVID-19 pandemic on HCWs in governmental hospitals in Alexandria. A total of 471 HCWs were recruited to participate in the study (245 front-line and 226 second-line HCWs), with a response rate of 89.3%. The enrolled HCWs were recruited from ten governmental hospitals, representing the eight health districts of Alexandria. Data were collected from HCWs regarding history of past COVID-19 infection, presence of post-COVID syndrome, HCWs’ psychological wellbeing, COVID-19 related fears, burnout syndrome, workplace related stressors and attitudes of HCWs towards the newly developed COVID-19 vaccines. Also, HCWs were reassessed after six-month follow-up period to estimate incidence of COVID19 reinfection and detect changes in the vaccination status. Self-reported questionnaires were used to collect data in the current study and an in-depth interview was conducted to explore HCWs’ attitudes towards vaccines and factors behind vaccine hesitancy.
