Abstract
Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is the leading cardiovascular cause of death and necessitates prompt diagnosis and treatment. Luminal thrombus secondary to coronary atherosclerotic-plaque erosion or rupture is considered as the main mechanism for ACS. Restoration of flow in infarct-related artery by percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) reduces the myocardial injury and improves ventricular function and long-term outcomes.
