The Egyptian Health Insurance Organization (HIO) was established in early 1964 to offer healthcare services to the public sector. In 2018, Egypt underwent a health system reform program that resulted in foundation of a new health care system which is called the universal health insurance system. Health care services in the new system is aiming at enabling the whole population to access the health services they need, with an emphasis on primary care including the estimated 30% of Egyptians who cannot afford to pay at present. Customer satisfaction is a crucial tool to assess the quality of service in health care organizations.
One approach to measure customers‟ perception of quality is to measure the „responsiveness‟, which is a concept developed by the WHO to measure how well the healthcare systems meet the expectations of the population in terms of non-medical dimensions. Therefore, the purpose of our study was to assess the universal health insurance ability to improve patients’ satisfaction and health system responsiveness among attendants of family health centers and units in Port-Said Governorate.
An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was done. The study wascarried out in family health centers and units in Port-Said Governorate that are affiliated to the universal health insurance. According to the universal health insurance site, universal health insurance includes 36 family health centers and units that serve more than 800,000people.
Our study included patients attending PHC units affiliated to universal health insurance in Port-Said Governorate. Adult patients and caregivers of young patients, with no mental capacity, who attended PHC units affiliated to universal health insurance in Port-Said Governorates. The current study
