Abstract

The nurse preceptorship program is a professional educational relationship between nurse preceptor and new nurse based on providing patient care and situated within the clinical work environment. The preceptor acts as a role model for nurses, demonstrating professionals roles and practice responsibilities for them. Also, the preceptor provids valuable feedback, support, guidance and enhance learning experience. Therefore, an effective preceptor nurse must develop interpersonal, teaching and competency assessment skills. However, preceptor challenges consider an issue that effects on preceptorship program related to work overload, high nurse-patients ratio and low knowledge and experience of preceptor nurse.
