Abstract Reliability engineering is an important factor in the design and development of many technical systems. Engineers uses various tools such as reliability block diagrams and Markov chain models to describe and analyze the operation of different complex systems by deriving some performance measures like reliability, availability, and mean time to failure. In this thesis, models of different fuzzy repairable and unrepairable systems are represented using Markov chain tools and reliability block diagrams. Due to uncertainty and lack of data about the systems’ parameters, fuzzy mathematics are combined with classical reliability theory to analyze these systems then obtain the fuzzy availability and the fuzzy reliability of these systems. New algorithms, which are developed through this analysis, can help in understanding and evaluating the performance of these systems. |
