Abstract

This retrospective study was performed to evaluate the clinical, epidemiological factors and clinical outcomes in colorectal cancer patients attending to Clinical Oncology Department at Assuit University Hospital during 10 years period between 2011-2020. The mean age of the enrolled patients was 45.88±15.23 years, ranging from 37 to 70 years.
Among these 209 patients (79.5%), were under the age of 60. The incidence of the studied condition was higher in males, accounting for 141 cases (53.6%), compared to females, where there were 122 cases (46.4%).
The most common presenting symptom was constipation experienced by 121 individuals (46.0%) and the most common site affected was rectum in151individuals (57.4%)
As regards the pathology adenocarcinoma (NOS) was the most common observed in 186 Patients (70.7%).
The median DFS was 7 months.
The significant prognostic factors associated with poor DFS in univariate Cox regression analysis were: signet ring subtype carcinoma, T4, M1, GIII, and GIV, disease response to treatment, site of distant metastasis liver or peritoneum.
When conducting the multivariate Cox logistic regression model, the only still significant variables were: pathological subtype signet ring carcinoma, M1, partial response (PR).
Regarding the median OS it was 14 months. The significant prognostic factors associated with poor OS were: Left-side cancer colon, cancer rectum, signet ring carcinoma, T4, N+, M1, GIV, PR to treatment and site of distant metastasis (Liver).
After conducting the multivariate Cox logistic regression model; the still factors that affecting the OS were: site of tumor (Left colon), cancer rectum, signet ring carcinoma subtype, N+, M1, PR to treatment.
