Abstract

The Study Objectives:
- Shedding light on the Mint Authority Museum in Cairo and its collections as well as enlisting it upon the museum tourist guide map.
- Collecting, studying and documenting the Egyptian cultural heritage, including medals, coins, badges, medallions, orders and pendants.
- The collections of the Mint Authority Museum include some inscriptions in various Arabic scripts. They are important for tourist guides in particular and visitors in general, as they will be familiar with the types of scripts and how to distinguish between them and read them correctly.
- Publishing many collections that have never been published before.
- Republishing some collections and examining them from different aspects.
- Highlighting the historical events documented by the museum’s collection in various aspects whether political, social, sporting and personal life.
- Preparing a catalog of the Mint Authority’s museum collection to be accessible to tour guides to help them perform their work.
- Presenting some suggestions and ideas for optimal use of the Mint Museum’s collection for the benefit of the individual and society.
The Result.
1. The study published 180 pieces from the museum’s collection, including 91 pieces published scientifically for the first time.
2. The study showed the importance of coins as living mirror documenting and recording political and historical events in Egypt and other countries.
3. The study presented an analysis of the contents of the writings contained on the pieces in the Mint Museum, including coins and medals, which are considered a valuable source for understanding Egyptian and international history and culture.
4. The study showed the diversity of raw materials from which the Mint Museum’s holdings are made, including gold, silver, copper, aluminum, and an Timonium.
5. The study proved that the museum’s oldest collection is a piece dating back to the Abbas Helmy II, which is the National Gallery in Alexandria, 1894, plate No. 32.
6. The study showed the diversity of the collections of the Egyptian Mint Museum’s holdings, including royal medals, circulated coins, commemorative coins, medals, decorations, and shields.
7. The study documented the medals of official conferences in the royal era, which reflect the interest of the Kingdom of Egypt in conferences and exhibitions, which in turn helped to stimulate tourism and introduce the world to the historical and cultural components of Egypt.
8. After studying the gold medal for the 1918 Olympic Games, the Games were not held on that date. The researcher suggested that this medal might have been a gift from the Secretary General of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, who was working as Egypt’s representative to the International Olympic Committee (Angelo Bolanaki),
9. The study proved that Egypt is owner of the idea of the Mediterranean Games by Mohamed Taher basha.
10. A study of medals for King Fouad’s foreign visits showed the extent of Egypt’s diplomatic role and its strong relations with European countries.
11. - A study documented the internal visits of King Fouad to various governorates of Egypt, which shows the extent of interest in infrastructure and the opening of national projects to serve citizens.
12. - The study showed that the electric tram is the first means of mass transportation in Egypt and Africa, and the oldest tram in the Arab world and Africa.
13. - Preparing a catalog of the Mint Authority’s museum collection to be accessible to tour guides to help them perform their work.
