Abstract

The presented thesis can be considered as scientific approach for qualitatively and quantitatively describe and evaluate the main producing F3B sandstone reservoir (Upper Devonian), Ghadamis Basin, Awaynat Wanin Formation, Wafa Field, North west Libya. The study depends on data available for four wells (A37-N169a, A48-N169a, A46-N169a and A45-N169a) distributed in this field. The data are in the form of well logs (Gamma ray, Neutron, Density, Photo Electric and Resistivity) in addition to core porosity and permeability results obtained for A37-N 169a well. The thesis comprises essentially three chapters as follows:
- Chapter One: represent introduction to the study area and its importance as hydrocarbon potential zone with emphasis on the stratigraphy of Awaynat Wanin and its lithology and classification. In this chapter the aim of the study is presented in addition to the location of the four study wells.
Chapter Two: This chapter represents qualitative descriptions for the different well log curve shapes in relations to each other. According to visual inspections, F3B was slices into distinctive zones. Each zone has its own log character. The upper zone in three wells (A37-NC169a, A48-NC169a and A46-NC169a) considered as primary clean target with high positive resistivity separation (RT>Rmsfl), low gamma ray and reasonable porosity. A45-NC169a well in addition to encountering primary target, it contained also lower shaly reservoir target. In this chapter a quick look technique was applied to quickly evaluate water saturations.
