Abstract

The assessment of fetal lung maturity has consistently posed a difficulty ‎for obstetricians and pediatricians when dealing with cases of preterm ‎labor and preterm premature rupture of membranes (PROM). Neonatal ‎respiratory morbidity, which refers to respiratory distress syndrome or ‎transitory tachypnea of the newborn, is the primary cause of both ‎mortality and morbidity in premature infants. ‎
Aim and objectives: to forecast respiratory distress syndrome by ‎employing the noninvasive technique of quantitative ultrasonography ‎characterization of fetal lung texture. ‎
Subjects and methods: This study had a total of 304 patients and was ‎carried out at the feto maternity section of Minia Maternity and Children ‎University Hospital. over 3 years ‎
Result: In the Control group, the range of the resistance Index (RI) was ‎from 0.58 to 1.04, with a mean ± standard deviation (SD) of 0.82 ± 0.1. ‎In the RD group, the RI varied from 0.53 to 1.06, with a mean ± SD of ‎‎0.77 ± 0.13. There was a statistically significant difference (p= 0.002) ‎between the two groups. ‎
There was no notable distinction observed in the texture lung study when ‎comparing the two groups utilizing computerized tools.‎
Conclusion: The investigation revealed a substantial and considerable ‎disparity between the groups in terms of Doppler indices.‎
There was no significant difference regarding texture lung analysis.‎
