Abstract Tapered Steel beams with cellular openings have several benefits, as they combine the benefits of an optimally tapered cross-section with practical cellular advantages. The thesis focuses on a novel structural analysis of tapered steel beams with cellular opening. The thesis investigations were performed experimentally and analytically. Then a finite element study was introduced using (ABAQUS software). The validity of the model was investigated by comparing it with the experimental results, a numerical study was also carried out, and a proposed equation for structural stability for single web post of tapered cellular beams was obtained. Furthermore, a detailed parametric study was performed on 36 samples covering three parameters affecting that equation, such as the taper angle, spacing between openings and thickness of the web other than what was studied experimentally, such as the height of the tee section above the hole (𝑇𝑜𝑛) and the opening diameter (𝐷𝑜𝑛) / web depth at the opening (ℎ𝑜𝑛) ratio, which is symbolized as (Q). |
