Abstract Aim: The aim of this study is to compare and evaluate implant osseointegration with two different surface treatments: hydroxyapatite with calcium phosphate and sandblasted rough acid etched surface. Patients and Methods: This prospective clinical study included the placement of sixteen dental implants with split-mouth technique in eight patients who missing two lower posterior teeth bilaterally, divided into (group I) side with hydroxyapatite with calcium phosphate surface and (group II) the other side with a sandblasted rough acid etched surface. Radiographic images were obtained in both pre-operative and follow-up phase. Then image analysis after at 1,3, 5months post-operatively was performed using IDRISI Kilimanjar, and then Data was collected, tabulated, and statistically analyzed using an IBM compatible personal computer with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26. Results: The statistical analysis for bone density values around implant showed a significant difference between groups using independent T-test at P value<0.05 under different time intervals, where sandblasted acid etch (Switzerland) implant (group I) gave the highest change within first 5 month after implantation than hydroxyapatite calcium phosphate (turkey) coated surface implant (group II). The rate of bone density improvement by time in both groups has significant difference, but neither age nor gender has significant difference in the obtained results. |
