Abstract

We present a retrospective non comparative description of our experience in treating a specific group of patients facing unique challenges. The cohort comprised 56 individuals with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) who underwent total surgical repair with pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) during adulthood. The study period spanned from March 2013 to March 2023, with a minimum inclusion age of 16 years.
Comprehensive assessments were conducted, encompassing preoperative characteristics, intraoperative details, postoperative and intensive care unit (ICU) course, as well as the most recent follow-up visit, which occurred approximately three years after the procedure for all participants.
The surgical repair procedure involved the resection of hypertrophied septo-parietal bands, closure of ventricular septal defects (VSD), and PVR. Various types of prostheses were utilized, all of which yielded similarly satisfactory outcomes. During the latest follow-up visit at the clinic, patients exhibited improved New York Heart Association (NYHA) classification, enhanced quality of life, and satisfactory echocardiographic parameters.
