Abstract

This chapter includes description of the materials, reagents, equipment and
the methods used for the preparation of polymer blends based essentially on
proteins with various compositions of some natural polymers such as zein and
wheat gluten blending with PVB will be investigated by the solution casting
technique, as the applicability of the prepared blends in the form of films
blends will depend in the first place on thermal properties, antimicrobial
resistance, radiation stability and film forming properties…ect.
(I) Preparation of Zein/PVB Film Blends
Blend was prepared by Stock solutions containing of (Zein + PVB) with
different ratios of PVB to Zein dissolved in ethanol/Isopropanol mixture and
the required ratio of glycerol based on blend weight was added to the

solutions. Films were then prepared by solution casting onto Plastic Petri
Dishes, and placed on a horizontal-leveled surface. Solutions were allowed to
dry overnight in room temperature.
(II) Preparation of Wheat gluten/PVB Film Blends
Blend was prepared by Stock solutions containing of (WG + PVB) with
different ratios of PVB to WG dissolved in Acidic distilled water/Isopropanol
mixture and the required ratio of glycerol based on blend weight was added to
the solutions. Films were then prepared by solution casting onto Plastic Petri
Dishes, and placed on a horizontal-leveled surface. Solutions were allowed to
dry about 48h in room temperature.
In addition to description of the preparation of scaffolds for the used Tissue
Culture (Vero cells & Paulownia tormentors), all aseptic procedures
regarding preparation of scaffolds were showed and explained. The different
parameters affecting on preparation and the application process are in
