Abstract

Architecture immortalizes buildings and recognizes their potential to withstand sudden change. Infectious illnesses shape the built environment. The function effects and the interior is modified until it reach city planning and infrastructure throughout history. First & second chapters cover the history of the pandemic and its impact on architecture, as well as the identification of the pandemic and the distinction between the pandemic and the epidemic, as the building is a main element in the spread, Examples of its impact on architecture and how to reduce it until it reaches suitable design criteria to reduce the spread. The built environment has always demonstrated the ability to adapt after a crisis. The third chapter explains the built environment, its measurement and ability to develop after the crisis, as well as the field of combating the pandemic, where anti-pandemic technology is inferred using finishing materials, design ideas, determining the effectiveness of architecture to stop the pandemic speared, and compiling those criteria in a checklist form of points and each point achieved is evaluated with point In Chapter Four analysis are done by analyzing examples of built environments of administrative offices in different countries. These examples were selected in periods before and after the spread of the pandemic and assessed using the combined check list and identifying strengths and weaknesses to overcome the spread of infection, reach results, proposals for those buildings to reduce pandemic ,and the conclusion of the criteria applied automatically whether there is an pandemic or not also the check list has been edited to reached final checklist Chapter 5, Office Buildings as a case study, the selection of an existing office building is the postgraduate space located in Faculty of Engineering at Tanta and comparing its use before and after the pandemic, applying the check list in addition to using the design-builderprogram to know the environmental conditions of space to it as well as understanding the user’s experience requirements. 3 proposals of space were made to decrease the virus’s spread, tested and selected the optimal proposal for the application.
