Abstract Disturbed consciousness patients are at high risk for mortality and certain morbidities such as aspiration pneumonia, hypoxia, persistent cognitive impairment, need for mechanical ventilation (MV), intensive care units (ICUs) admission, and prolonged hospitalization period. Poisoning represented 10.9% of disturbed consciousness causes. However, only limited studies evaluated the applicability of various clinical scores assessing the consciousness level on admission to predict the need for intubation, mechanical ventilation and ICU admission in poisoned patients. |
