Abstract Most of the body’s tissues can undergo wound repair following a disruption of tissue integrity. Wound care is a major component of surgical practice both acutely (e.g., trauma, burns, and surgery) and chronically (e.g., pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, and diabetic ulcers). Upon healing, these wounds result in scar formation. Mesotherapy is the non-invasive transdermal injection involves vitamins, enzymes, hormones, hyaluronic acid, and natural plant extracts into the skin to stimulate the biosynthetic ability of fibroblasts and facilitate interaction between cells and is intended to increase collagen and elastin production. So, mesotherapy can be used for facial scars improvement. Aim of the study: This study evaluated the efficacy of mesotherapy using both qualitative assessment and quantitative measurements in comparison to control group. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four patients with vertical or oblique forehead lacerations, treated by primary closure, were enrolled in this study, and randomized into two groups: One group (n=12) received mesotherapy (microneedling) with AQ serum using derma pen within 5 days of primary closure and the other group (n=12) received no further treatment. Vancouver scar scale (VSS) Scores and wound width were determined at the 1, 3 and 6-months follow-up visits, along with clinical photographs in addition to evaluation of pigmentation of the scar. Results: There was significant improvement in the VSS and in the wound width in the patients treated with Mesotherapy(microneedling) compared to the control group. All the significant changes were observed at the 3 and 6-month visits, but not at the 1-month visit. All cases showed uneventful healing.
