Abstract Patient compliance is paramount in the effectiveness of therapeutic regimens. Nurse play an important and greater role in emphasizing patients to comply with therapeutic regimen and life style changes to prevent repeated revascularization. The aim of this study was to evaluate effect of an educational intervention on knowledge, compliance and self-efficacy for post CABG surgery patients, Design: A quasi experimental research design was utilized, Setting: the study was conducted at the Cardio-Thoracic Surgery outpatient Clinic in Suez Canal University Hospitals, Sample: A purposive sample of 64 patients, Tools: three tools were used to collect the study data. Structured interview questionnaire, assessment of compliance with therapeutic regimen post CABG surgery patients based on HBM questionnaire and assessment of self - efficacy for post CABG surgery patients questionnaire. Results: The study revealed that all of the studied patients had unsatisfactory knowledge about disease and its’ treatment before educational intervention implementation, even though the total percentage of patient’s knowledge post educational intervention implementation was improved, all of the studied patients were un compliant with therapeutic regimen before educational intervention implementation while after educational intervention implementation were compliant and regarding to self-efficacy the study results showed that the studied patients had high self- efficacy after implementation of educational intervention. Conclusion: Level of patient’s knowledge , Compliance with therapeutic regimen and Self efficacy were improved after implementation of an educational intervention. Recommendations: Developing an individualized care plan for each patient based on health belief model construction.
