Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common type of liver cancer, which is the most common leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Recently great attention congregated on the use of Nanoparticles in the biomedical field, especially AgNPs, which have remarkable potential effect as anti-angiogenic and anti-cancer agents. AgNPs has important applications in pharmaceutics, medicine, and dentistry field, especially as potential agents for cancer diagnosis and therapy, through induced the apoptotic pathway by generating free oxygen radicals that displayed antitumor, antiproliferative, and antiangiogenic effects in vitro. Diethyl nitrosamine (DEN) is a well-known potent hepatocarcinogenic agent present in agricultural chemicals, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, so the presented work was performed to study the effect of AgNPs and cisplatin separetly or in combination for treatment of HCC, in rats induced by DEN and CCl4.
This study was carried out on a total number of one hundred and twenty (120) clinically apparent healthy adult male albino rats of 6 to 8 weeks with average body weight (150-250 g). These rats were obtained from the central animal house of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University.
