Abstract

8% diagnosed as Aerophagia, 77% diagnosed with Mixed diagnosis and all patients 100% diagnosed as Functional Constipation among patients older than 4 years.
• It was found that mostly of children had taken osmotic laxatives 90% (lactulose syrup 90%) then stimulant laxatives (sekem sachets 56% and picolax drops laxatives 12.5%).
• It was found that 12 children (9.92%) from 100 children included above 4 years were free of symptoms and improved in bowel habit but still take laxatives among patients older than 4 years.
• Our study and similarly other research show that children can be classified as having mixed diagnosis with functional constipation and are not solely limited to one diagnosis in terms of naturally occurring symptom presentation but have shown a large range of overlap with patients qualifying for all diagnosis based on symptoms.
